What Now?

Shelter is what now. September was medical supply and personel month, because the need was immediate and dire. Now the outstanding need is shelter. People are sleeping in make-shift shacks in LA and MS, so we're concentrating on shelters - temporary ones, and the repair of those homes that can be repaired.

We contact command centers and evacuation facilities to check their status, and we record their high priority needs to this site. People are invited to make requests on behalf of emergency command centers and evacuation facilities, but must leave a working phone number and/or e-mail address - preferably both, in addition to the full street address.

If you know anyone who has internet access, a phone, and might be willing to help us help people get what they need in the disaster zone, please e-mail or call them about our site. If you'd like to work with us, please introduce yourself in the comments section of this post. We're glad to have your help.

If you're looking for goods and/or services, or would like to vounteer goods and/or services, those posts have their own specific comment areas. All areas are constantly monitored.

Priority requests are placed in the EMERGENCY UPDATE area. Emergency Command Personel and Medical Volunteers will get a 7 minute e-mail or phone response (remember to leave the number in the e-mail) between 6:AM and 10:PM Pacific time, by emailing iceknife (at) lmi.net .
